Dealing with diversity
Impro-Labo® - Interactive theatre
Diversity is one of today's challenges. Nevertheless, the road towards it is littered with pitfalls. Resistance, prejudice and stereotypes often rear their heads.
The interactive theatre performance 'Dealing with Diversity' gives you a humorous insight into how stereotypes work and offers keys to concrete steps towards a broader support base for more diversity. How should we communicate with each other about this tricky topic? What concrete solutions can you find to someone's objections or fears about gender issues, working with people from different origins or people with a physical disability?
To answer these questions, we combine several elements:
- Theatre sketches: through humour, recognisability and the necessary irony, we hold a (funny) mirror up to the audience
- Multiple-choice questions: these probe the temperature of the room and involve the audience in the discussion
- Sensitive models: in consultation with the participants, we look for the role of stereotypes and mental (dis)comfort zones
Interaction and dialogue
Humour, striking remarks and sharp observations create a feeling of recognition without avoiding the hot topics. More than that, the interactive character challenges the audience to enter into a dialogue on these sensitive issues. This leads to more insight and a better understanding between all involved.
